Arusha, Tanzania – The Tanzania Minerals Tourism Information Centre (TMTIC) has officially launched a groundbreaking platform poised to redefine both Tanzania’s tourism and mining sectors. As the first institution of its kind in Africa, TMTIC merges geological exploration with high-end tourism, unveiling Tanzania as a premier global hub for Minerals and Geo-Experience travel.
Established under the Progressive Metallic Minerals Company Limited (PMMCL), TMTIC introduces a model that blends immersive Geo-Safaris, research-driven educational programs, and curated mineral exhibitions. The initiative aims to diversify Tanzania’s economy while promoting responsible mineral conservation.
Speaking during the unveiling, TMTIC leadership emphasized that Tanzania’s world-renowned wildlife and landscapes are now being complemented by world-leading geological assets-from the volcanic wonders of Ngorongoro-Lengai UNESCO Global Geo-park to the exclusive Tanzanite mines of Merelani.
The launch marks a significant step toward positioning Tanzania as a destination for high-value scientific tourism, attracting not only tourists but also researchers, investors, and global mineral enthusiasts.
